First Innings Summary :
Mumbai Indians won the toss and asked Kolkata Knight Riders to bat first. As it was raining in Kolkata, the match started late and was reduced to a 16-over game. Mumbai started brilliantly with the ball. First, they dismissed Phil Salt in the 1st over & then Bumrah picked Sunil Narine in the 2nd over. Shreyas Iyer also got out in the 4th over. Second Innings Summary :
Mumbai Indians needed 158 runs to win the match in 16 overs. Mumbai got to a great start with Rohit Sharma & Ishan Kishan. MI scored 59 runs in 5 overs of power play without losing any wickets. Both had a partnership of 65 runs. Ishan Kishan scored 40 off 22 balls. Rohit Sharma got out, scoring 19 runs off 24 balls. Mumbai middle order failed to contribute. Tilak Varma was a lone fighter. No other middle-order batsman was able to make an impact. In the death overs, Naman Dhir came to the crease and scored a few quick runs. He scored 17 off 6 balls. Tilak Varma also got out in the last over scoring 32 runs off 17 balls. KKR successfully defended their total by 18 runs. Andre Russell, Varun Chakaravarthy & Harshit Rana picked 2 wickets each. Sunil Narine got 1 wicket. With the win Kolkata Knight Riders becomes the first team to qualify for the playoffs.
