Toss:  Chennai Super Kings won the toss & decided to Bowl. 

First Innings Summary :

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and asked RCB to bat first. RCB got to a flying start to the innings. RCB was 31-0 in first 3 overs when rain interrupted the match. The match started after half an hour without losing any over. The scoring rate also fell after the rain as the ball started spinning. RCB scored only 42 runs in the first 6 overs without losing any wickets. RCB has a 78-run opening partnership. Virat Kohli scored 47 off 29 balls. Faf du Plessis was playing a good innings and scored 54 runs off 39 balls but got run out unfortunately. Rajat Patidar & Chris Green built a good partnership of 71 runs in 28 balls. Patidar scored 41 off 23 balls before being dismissed in the 18th over. Green stayed not out scoring 38 runs off just 17 balls. Maxwell played a small cameo scoring 16 off 5 balls. RCB posted a total of 218 runs losing 5 wickets. For CSK, Shardul Thakur took 2 wickets. Tushar Deshpande & Mitchell Santner picked 1 wicket each. 

Second Innings Summary :

Chennai had a target of 219 runs to win the match. But they needed just to score past 200 runs to qualify for the playoffs with a better run rate. CSK had a shocking start as they lost Ruturaj in the very first ball. They also lost Darly Mitchell early. They were 2 down for 19 runs. But CSK came back with a partnership between Rachin Ravindra & Ajinkya Rahane. Both added 66 runs. Rahane got out scoring 33 off 22 balls. Rachin kept pushing but unfortunately got run-out scoring 61 runs off 37 balls. Dube & Santner failed to make an impact. Jadeja & MS Dhoni kept fighting for the target. Both added 61 runs in 27 balls before Dhoni was dismissed for 25 off 13 balls. Jadeja scored 42 off 22 balls staying not out, but that wasn’t enough to cross the line. RCB won the match by 27 runs and QUALIFIED for the playoffs. Yash Dayal picked 2 wickets. Maxwell, Siraj, Ferguson & Green all picked 1 wicket each. 

Faf du Plessis was named Player of the Match for his 54(39).

IPL Match No. 69 – Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Punjab Kings, 19 May 2024 (Sunday), Time – 3:30 PM

On match number 69 of Tata IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Punjab Kings at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. SRH having already qualified for the playoffs, will look to win this match so they have a chance to finish in the top 2 if KKR beats RR in the last group match of this season. Punjab Kings didn’t have a good campaign this season as well. They will want to finish their season with a win. 

IPL Match No. 70 – Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders, 19 May 2024 (Sunday), Time – 7:30 PM

On match number 70 of Tata IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals will take on Kolkata Knight Riders at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. Both teams have already qualified for the playoffs. KKR will finish at the top regardless of the results in this match. KKR will have a chance to experiment with their combination as they will miss the service of Phil Salt for the rest of the season. Rajasthan Royals will have to win here if they want to seal their 2nd spot. If RR fails to win here and SRH wins against PBKS, RR will lose their 2nd spot. RR will also miss the service of Jos Buttler for the rest of the season.
