First Innings Summary :
Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and decided to bat first to put a score on the scoreboard and put pressure on the big match on Kolkata Knight Riders. But things didn’t happen as SRH would have wanted. KKR broke the backbone of SRH in the power play overs. Mitchell Starc was outstanding with the new ball. Picked Travis Head in the 2nd ball of the innings. In form Abhishek Sharma also got out in the second over. Rahul Tripathi & Nitish Reddy tried to build a partnership, but Starc was roaring in his spell. He picked another 2 wickets of Nitish Reddy & Shabaz Ahmed in his 3rd over. SRH scored just 45 runs in the power play losing 4 wickets. Tripathi & Henrich Klassen built a much-needed partnership for SRH. Both added 62 runs for the 5th wicket. Klassen scored 32 runs in 21 balls. Rahul Tripathi played a good innings scoring 55 runs off 35 balls, but got run out unfortunately for a miscommunication with Abdul Samad. KKR picked a few quick wickets to keep ta match in their grip. In the end overs, Pat Cummins scored some important runs. He scored 30 off 23 balls. SRH were All Out for 159 runs. For KKR Mitchell Starc picked 3 wickets, and Varun Chakaravarthy picked 2 wickets. Vaivab Arora, Harshit Rana, Sunil Narin & Andre Russell got 1 wicket each.
Second Innings Summary :
Kolkata Knight Riders had 160 runs to chase down & enter the Finals of Tata IPL 2024. KKR got off to a good start. Had an opening stand of 44 runs between Rahmanullah Gurbaz & Sunil Narine. Gurbaz scored 23 off 13 balls. KKR scored 63 runs in the power play losing 1 wicket. Sunil Narine also lost his wicket scoring 21 off 16 balls just after the power play ended. But after that, Venkatesh Iyer & Shreyash Iyer outplayed SRH bowlers. Both remained not out till the end and finished the game in less than 14 overs. Shreyash Iyer scored 58*(24) and Venkatesh Iyer scored 51*(28). T. Natarajan & Pat Cummins got 1 wicket each for SRH. With the win, KKR will now play the Finals on 26 May, Sunday at Chennai.
Mitchell Starc was named Player of the Match for his 3-34(4).
