First Innings Summary :
Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss in the big final match & decided to bat first. It seemed kike SRH skipper didn’t quite judge the pitch well. Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers were top of SRH batters since the very first over. Abhishek Sharma was dismissed by a ripper from Mitchell Starc in the first over. Dangerous Travis Head was also dismissed in the 2nd over. KKR bowlers controlled the whole first innings. SRH just scored 40 runs in the power play losing 3 big wickets. KKR picked up wickets in regular intervals. Sunrisers Hyderabad middle order batsmen were also unable to make an impact. Captain Pat Cummins scored the highest runs for SRH, scoring 24 runs in 19 balls. Aiden Markram scored 20 runs off 23 balls. No other batsman crosses 15 runs mark. SRH were bowled out for just 113 runs. For KKR, Andre Russell picked up 3 wickets. Mitchell Starc & Harshit Rana picked 2 wickets each. Vaibhab Arora, Sunil Narine & Varun Chakaravarthy picked 1 wicket each.
Second Innings Summary :
Kolkata Knight Riders had a target of 114 runs to chase down in 20 overs & claim their third title. Kolkata Knight Riders lost Sunil Narine early but got a perfect start for a low total chase. Both Gurbaz & Venkatesh Iyer built a match-winning partnership. Both added 91 runs for the team. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 39 runs off 32 balls. Venkatesh Iyer stayed not out till the end playing a match-winning knock of 52 runs off 26 balls. Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the match in just 10.3 overs with 8 wickets in hand. Kolkata made the match fully one-sided. With the win, Kolkata Knight Riders clinch their third IPL Trophy.
