First Innings Summary :
Chennai Super Kings had a shaky start to the innings, losing Ajinkya Rahane early. Rujuraj & Rachin had built a good partnership of 52 runs before Rachin Ravindra fell to Shreyas Gopal. Then skipper Ruturaj & Shibham Dube had a big partnership of 90 runs. Rujuraj Gaikwad scored 69 runs off 40 balls & Shivam Dube scored 66 off just 38. MS Dhoni came in last over and hit 20 runs in just 4 balls which took CSK’s score to 206-4. Hardik Pandya picked up 2 wickets, while Shreyas Gopal & Gerald Coetzee took 1 wicket each.
Second Innings Summary :
Mumbai Indians got to a good start with Rohit Sharma & Ishan Kishan. Both had a partnership of 70 runs. In the 7th over of the innings, Pathirana picked 2 crucial wickets of Kishan & Suryakumar Yadav in the same over and brought CSK back into the match. Rohit Sharma stood tall at one end but didn’t get that support to cross the finishing line. Though former skipper Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 105 off 63 balls but MI couldn’t win the match. Matheesha Pathirana picked up 4 wickets for just 28 runs which helped CSK defend the total and win the match by 20 runs.
Matheesha Pathirana was declared as Man of the Match for his outstanding spell of 4-28.
CSK winning the El-Classico of IPL cements their place at third position for now and Mumbai Indians remain at 8th spot.
