ipl match no 25 : Mumbai Indians vs RCB

11 April 2024 (Thursday)

Venue: Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Toss: Mumbai Indians (MI) won the toss and elected to field first.

First Innings Summary :

Mumbai Indians started the proceedings with the ball very well. Jasprit Bumrah picked in-form Virat Kohli in the third over of the innings. Will Jacks, who made his IPL debut in this match for RCB was also removed early by Akash Madhwal. RCB looked very shakey at the start, as they were down to 23-2. After the disappointing start, Captain Faf and Rajat Patidar built a much-needed partnership. Together, they added 82 runs. Faf du Plessis scored 60 (43), and Rajat Patidar played a fiery innings of 50 off just 26 balls.

Later, Dinesh Karthik, who is playing his last IPL season, played a brilliant knock of 53 runs off 23 deliveries. With 3 players scoring 50+ runs, RCB posted a very competitive total of 196 on the board. Jasprit Bumrah was the star with the ball, as he picked up 5 wickets while conceding just 21 runs, whereas other bowlers from MI struggled with the ball.

Second Innings Summary :

Mumbai Indians dominated the whole second innings while chasing 197 runs. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma gave MI the proper start as both added 101 runs together. Ishan Kishan looked very dangerous with the bat as he made 69 off 34 balls, hitting 7 boundaries and 5 sixes. Rohit Sharma played the supporting role scoring 38 off 24. Among all the stellar performances with the bat, Suryakumar Yadav was the stand-out performer, as he hit 52 runs off just 19 balls with a strike rate of 274.

The Target of 197 looked very small to MI batsmen as they reached the total in just 15.3 overs just losing 3 wickets. Yet again RCB’s bowling attack was disappointing. This has been the story of RCB every season. As a result, RCB lost their 4th consecutive match this season and Mumbai won their 2nd consecutive match.

Jasprit Bumrah was selected as Man of the Match for his brilliant Five-wicket Haul.
