First Innings Summary :
In the 2nd home game for KKR, after winning the toss, Shreyash Iyer decided to bowl. LSG batters showed intent but could not give them a good start. Although, skipper KL Rahul looked in fine touch but couldn’t convert his innings of 39 (27) into a big score. Nicholas Pooran got the highest number of runs for his team 45(32). Youngster Ayush Badoni’s cameo of 29 runs took LSG to a decent score of 161 runs. KKR took wickets in regular intervals, which helped them to restrict their opponents to 161 in 20 overs. Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers for KKR as he picked up 3 wickets giving away just 28 runs.
Second Innings Summary :
Despite getting a flying start, getting 22 runs in the first over, KKR couldn’t convert that into a big power play. LSG was bought back into the game by Mohsin Khan, who picked up 2 wickets of Narine & Angkrish. LSG restricted KKR to 58-2 in 6 overs of power play. But in the middle overs, captain Shreyash Iyer and Phil Salt took away the game from Lucknow Super Giants. Both of them played till the end to finish the match for KKR with a partnership of 120(76)runs. Salt scored an unbeaten 89 off just 47 balls and Iyer anchored the innings with his 38(38). KKR won the match with 26 balls remaining.
Phil Salt was declared Man of the Match for his brilliant innings of 89(47).
With the win over LSG, KKR sits comfortably at the 2nd position of the table with 8 points from 5 matches.
