Toss: Punjab Kings won the toss & decided to field. 

First Innings Summary :

Kolkata Knight Riders batting first started very well against Punjab Kings. Sunil Narine & Phil Salt were looking in good touch with the bat. Yet another time KKR openers dominated the power play. They scored 76 runs in the power play without losing a wicket. Both openers made a partnership of 138 runs before Narine was dismissed for 71 runs off just 32 balls. Phil Salt scored a brilliant 75 runs off 37 balls. Russell also looked dangerous but was not able to convert into a big knock, as he got out scoring 24 off 12 balls. Captain Shreyash Iyer made a quick 28 runs playing only 10 balls. Venkatesh Iyer also contributed 39 runs off 23 balls. Kolkata Knight Riders set a mammoth total of 261 runs. Arshdeep Singh picked 2 wickets. Sam Curran, Harshal Patel & Rahul Chahar got 1 wicket each. 

Second Innings Summary :

Punjab Kings needed 262 runs to win this match. Punjab started on a very positive note. They scored 93 runs losing just 1 wicket in the first 6 overs of power play. The only wicket that fell was of Prabhsimran Singh, who was run out making 54 runs from 20 deliveries. Rilee Rossouw scored 26 off 16 balls. After Rossouw’s wicket, KKR never came back into the game. Bairstow made a fine century and scored 108 off 48 balls. Sashank Sing’s powerful innings of 68 runs in 28 balls made sure Punjab Kings chased down a record target of 262. PBKS made the highest successful chase by any team in the history of T20 cricket. For KKR only Sunil Narine got 1 wicket. Punjab Kings won the match with 8 wickets & with 8 balls to spare. 

Jhonny Bairstow was named Man of the Match for his 108 (48).

On match number 44 of Tata IPL 2024, Lucknow Super Giants will take on Rajasthan Royals at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. With a win here, Rajasthan can solidify their top position.
