First Innings Summary :
Mumbai Indians started brilliantly with the ball. Kolkata Knight Riders top order miserably failed with the bat. KKR scored 57 runs in power play but lost 4 wickets. KkKR were down to 5 men with just 57 runs on the board. Venkatesh Iyer & impact player Manish Pandey came to the rescue for KKR. Both had a much-needed partnership of 83 runs. Manish Pandey scored 42 off 31 balls, playing his first match of the season. Venkatesh Iyer scored 72 off 52 balls. No other batsman was able to play an impactful innings. KKR reached a total off 169 runs losing all wickets. Nuwan Thushara & Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets each. Hardik got 2 wickets & Piyush Chawla got 1.
Second Innings Summary :
Mumbai Indians were brilliant with the ball in the first innings. They had a target of 170 runs to chase. Mumbai Indians top order also failed to make an impact. KKR bowlers were top-notch with the ball. Mumbai scored 46 runs losing 3 wickets in the first 6 overs. Mumbai kept losing wickets in regular intervals. Suryakumar Yadav & Tim David had a partnership of 49 runs but that wasn’t enough to cross the line. Mumbai Indians were bowled out by KKR for 145 runs. Suryakumar scored 56 off 35 balls. Tim David scored 24 off 20 balls. KKR won the match by 24 runs. Mitchell Starc picked 4 wickets for 33 runs. Varun, Narine & Russell picked 2 wickets each. With this loss, Mumbai Indians are eliminated from this year’s Tata IPL.
