“Weight loss” has unfortunately become a worry for a large portion of the world population because of changing lifestyles and priorities, along with increased stress. Multiple published studies now vouch for what our grandparents used to preach, “chew properly and eat”, “focus on your food and enjoy it”, and so on. Practicing mindful eating techniques can have significant benefits for weight loss and overall health, is what research findings suggest. Researchers observed that individuals who engaged in mindful eating practices, such as paying attention to hunger cues, savoring each bite, and eating slowly, were more likely to maintain a healthy weight compared to those who ate while doing something else like watching a video or reading or being simply distracted. Additionally, participants reported feeling more satisfied with their meals and experiencing fewer cravings for unhealthy foods when they focused solely on food while having a meal. These findings highlight the importance of mindfulness in promoting healthier eating habits and may offer new insights for individuals seeking to improve their diet and manage their weight effectively.
