Toss: Punjab Kings Giants won the toss & decided to Bowl. 

First Innings Summary :

Punjab Kings won the toss and asked RCB to bat first. Punjab got the first breakthrough early in the innings, dismissing captain Faf du Plessis. RCB scored 56 runs in the power play overs losing 2 wickets. Virat Kohli & Rajat Patidar had a great partnership in the middle overs. Rajat Patidar played a fiery knock, making 55 runs off just 23 deliveries. Virat Kohli played the anchor role till Patidar was on the crease. But after Patidar got out, Kohli took the charge. Kohli & Green build another strong partnership of 92 runs. Kohli scored 92 off 47 balls. Green scored 46 off 27 balls. DK played a small cameo, scoring 18 off 7. RCB ended their innings scoring 241 runs with the loss of 7 wickets. For PBKS, Harshal Patel picked 3 wickets, Vidhwath Kaverappa picked 2, and Sam Curran & Arshdeep Singh both picked 1 wicket each. 

Second Innings Summary :

Punjab Kings had a mammoth target of 242 runs to chase down. They needed a solid start but got a big blow losing Prabhsimran Singh in the very first over. But Bairstow & Rossouw took charge of the match. Both built a good partnership in the power play. PBKS scored 75 runs in the power play but lost 2 wickets. Bairstow was dismissed for 27(16). Rossouw played a tremendous powerful innings but unfortunately got out after scoring 61 of just 27 balls. Chasing this huge total, PBKS’s middle order couldn’t handle the pressure and lost wickets quickly. Shashank Singh scored 37 off 19 balls. Sam Curran scored 22 off 16. PBKS were all out for 181 runs. RCB won by 60 runs. Mohemmad Siraj picked up 3 wickets. Swapnil Singh, Lockie Ferguson and Karn Sharma picked 2 wickets each

Virat Kohli was named Player of the Match for his 92(47).

IPL Match No. 59 – Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings, 9 May 2024 (Friday), Time – 7:30 PM

On match number 59 of Tata IPL 2024, Gujarat Titans will take on Chennai Super Kings at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans are almost out of the equation for the playoffs losing their last three matches, But Chennai Super Kings have their fate in their hands. They need to win at least 2 matches out of their remaining 3 matches. Chennai is currently placed in 4th position in the table. So they will have to win to give them a chance for qualifications. The last time these two teams played, CSK won that match comprehensively. If GT wins here, CSK will be in trouble for the playoff qualification.
